In May 2003, the NGO “Institute for Rural Development” was registered with the justice authorities. The founders of the organization were experts from the project “Ukrainian Rural Livelihood Programme”, which was funded by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) at that time.
There were discussions among the founders about the name of the organization. Whether it was “development of rural areas” or “rural development”. The center of rural development is the person, and the ideology of rural development is to create conditions for improving the well-being and quality of life of peasants. That is why the Institute for Rural Development.
Our projects
During the period of its activity, the IRD implemented 22 projects, diverse in terms of topics, scope of tasks and duration. Some of them, in particular, contained a research component, and some - a powerful information and educational component. As a result, 14 sociological studies were conducted within the projects, including an all-Ukrainian one, and 25 relevant information brochures were prepared and published, which can be found in the ARCHIVES section.

The value of information is measured by the benefit it can bring when studying or researching a specific issue. This section contains relevant and accessible information for residents of rural communities, agricultural producers, in particular, farmers, owners of family farms and private plot holders.

This section contains information brochures prepared over more than 20 years as part of projects implemented by the NGO Institute for Rural Development. At one time, they were relevant and served as a source of reliable information about the rights, opportunities and mechanisms for increasing income and improving the quality of life of peasants, highlighted and explained issues of international and European integration, etc.
Today, interested readers can remember, trace in a historical context or get acquainted with how it was, and what the realities are today.
